DMB has of course played the vast majority of their concerts in the US, but to date they have also performed in 25 other countries.
During their US tours they often pop across the border to Canada, with their first show there taking place in Montreal on
10.5.94.
A
club tour in Europe in spring 1995 followed by a
festival circuit that summer expanded their global presence across the pond, with many more European tours to come.
Brazil, a country with a strong DMB fanbase, got its first run of three shows in October 1998 as the band played the Free Jazz Festival as it moved through the southern cities of
Rio de Janeiro,
São Paulo, and
Curitiba. Additional shows in Argentina and Mexico were cancelled, though the band did eventually return to these Latin American countries, as well as Chile.
The band's
first foray down under came along in spring (or rather, fall) 2005 with several shows on the east coast of Australia, and a
run of three shows in South Africa and a visit to Abu Dhabi on
10.8.15 rounded out a full set of six inhabited continents where the band has played.
As for other DMB-adjacent acts, Dave and Tim have toured several times in Europe and have done several long weekends in Cancún, Mexico, while Dave has had some solo dates in England, the Netherlands, and South Africa. In the Caribbean,
Dave and Friends (and
later DMB) have played on cruise ships which called in the Bahamas while Dave joined Carlos Varela in Cuba on
4.18.16. Dave also sat in alongside Trey Anastasio with Orchestra Baobab in Dakar, Senegal on
1.21.04.
