"It amazes me that we can all get together here in such a big crowd and hang out and have such a good time and then look at the world around us and there's so many problems. People wanna blow eachother up, people wanna cut eachother up, people wanna steal from eachother 'cause they don't have enough, and people wanna beat eachother up 'cause they don't know what the fuck is goin' on. But ya'll... there's a whole lot of us, there's a whole lot of us, so I figured that if we can all hang out this close together and dance and party and get high and get drunk, we must be able to... Before All Along the Watchtower, Dave says the following:
"Ya know uhh, it wasn't, it wasn't too long ago when uhh, Hootie and the Blowfish and The Dave Matthews Band played in, played in fraternaties together. So it's nice that we get together and we can still be friends and be jammin'... I know, I know I,I, I often read this, ya know, journalists and people or the media like to separate people out and make bands like this and bands like that and this band don't like that band. I just fuckin' like music and I like that anybody get together and play with anybody...'cause that's what it is. And we were lucky enough, we were lucky enough to play in Germany, play with the guy that wrote this song and it's been a favourite of ours for a while. Anyway, this is a Dylan tune, this is a Watchtower."
