Song History

This song debuted in the 1996 Dave and Tim tour, during which it was known as "Weight of the World," as it was referred to by fans based on the lyrics of the first version ever played. It then appeared on the Dave and Tim 1997 tour as a slight evolution from the 1996 version. During 1997, the song became widely known as "Weight of the World / Leave Me Praying". All versions of the song contain a lyrical interpolation of "This Land Is Your Land," which has since surfaced in many versions of "Don't Drink the Water."
